The Roses

A dreadful tragedy happened at Bondi Beach in Sydney last evening.  A terrorist shooting by 2 men, father and son they targeted the Jewish people on the beach celebrating Hanukkah, the Jewish 'Festival of Lights' which turned into darkness.
I've given a link to what happened here, it's the TV news in writing and photos, at the moment it's on their front page but of course if it disappears a search on the site will find what happened.
Here is a link to YouTube about what happened and more.
We pray for those that died and the injured except one of the gunman.

To the Roses.

These photos were taken early November in our garden.  Not all the roses are out as yet, they are not looking great this year, rather leggy as if reaching for the sun.  Not a good year for our roses.

The above rose is Double Delight.

The above rose is a Standard Crepuscule.  The below one is Just Joey.

Above and below are not roses as such but are called Banksia Roses and are growing up the trellis over the front brick arch of the house.

These two photos are Pink Iceberg

The above photo is White Climbing Iceberg which is growing up and along the side fence, we have 3 of these.  Below rose is called Queen Elizabeth.

The below rose is called Apricot Nectar.

Flowers it seems.

It's been a very long time since I've posted 'flowers', so I've collected a few from the archives to show you.  Most have all grown in our garden at some point in time, some are still.

Rose called 'Peace', then Nerines.

Chrysanthemum, then Agapanthus.

Lily then Dahlia.

Fushia then Freises.

Roses, above Crepuscule then Just Joey.

Roses, above Pink Iceberg then Seduction.

Above, a Lily.

Aquilegia/Columbine or Granny Bonnet, then a rose from somewhere.

Roses and the Kangaroo!

Something different from me.  The first rose is Peace which gave up the ghost a few years back and we never replaced it.  The second photo is of the rose Climbing Iceberg which is rather a pretty picture in our back yard.

The Kangaroo photo was taken in a newer building area and there is a lot of bush behind the animal.

About the Garden

We are redoing part of our garden out the front of the house.  Planted little lavenders which will make a lovely boarder.  More plants will be planted behind them eventually of a different kind.
A few photos of flowers still blooming in our Autumn.

The above plant is called a Plumbago, and has now been cut back.

Winter has arrived 2015

The last few days have been rather nippy in the mornings.  Ventured out to take these few photos on Monday the first day of Winter here in Tasmania, Australia.
It's amazing how plants survive in such weather, but then these plants are made to do so.
There is no snow on the 2 mountains that I can see, but no doubt there would be a small amount on the highest one, Ben Lomond which we drove up to in the summer.  At least after a frost one gets a beautiful sunny day.

The above Temperature in in C....and was morning time.

The frost which did not crackle under foot.  All photos taken with my phone.

Nandina, this one loves the cool weather.

Amazing that the frost did not burn the flowers of this Weeping Sea Foam Rose.

Out the Front!

As mentioned in previous post, some of the flowers that grow or used to grow out the front.  Some photos.

Climbing White Pascali.

Climbing Ena Harkness.

Anemone, long gone.

Yellow Banksia

White Banksia - both Banksia's have been cut to the ground, they will be lucky if they grow again up over the arch at the front of the house.

Very pretty - now in bloom but not in my garden.
