SSSC187-you're awesome

Today I am playing along with this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I love Karen's sketches and the DT is awesome. I always get excited when I can play along.  If you have been around my blog for awhile, then you'll know I am a sucker for circles. I ♥ this giant circle element for the sketch. I let it take center stag, showing off my sentiment.

I needed a card for my neighbor (he's a 12 yr. old boy), that helped us out while we were away on vacation. This  sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co.'s June SMAK kit, Epic Moments.  I Iayered it onto a Circle Stax 1 Die-namics piece that I had first embossed with a Chevron embossing folder.

On the orange rectangle, I added grid, polka dot background from  April's  KOTM, You Make My Heart Puffy. Love those dots.  I also added an Orange Fizz button to help accent the sentiment.  There's a tiny File Tab Die-namics tucked behind the orange cs layer. I sponged on some Orange Fizz ink to help it stand out a little.

Here is this week's sketch. Come Play along. SSSC187

I'll see you back tomorrow with some more crafty goodies from me.

Happy Birthday to Unity! Hip Hop Hangover Style!

Hip Hop Hangover

WoW what a week! Unity Stamp Co. turns 1 and this week has been one big long birthday celebration! Lots of games, prizes, and challenges. There is a HUGE grand prize involved for playing along in the challenges this week. One winner from each contest (there has been one each daythis week) will be chosen and then those will be put to the vote. The card/project that gets the most votes WINS the Unity KOTM FREE for a WHOLE YEAR! Now you know why I was placing so much pressure on myself -it is a huge prize. Keeping my fingers crossed that one of my cards makes it into the final round. Here are a few I have been working on this week.

This one was for Maren's Wednesday Cake Inspiration Challenge. There were some awesome cakes to choose from. Here is the one I based my card off of.

This was Jeanne's Thursday Challenge to create a single layer birthday card. I finally inked up this tiny version of my FAVE Unity kit, Giggle Grove. This is called, Tiny Giggle Grove. I {{{heart}}} these little trees. So that's my Unity goodness for you today. Great Sale going on over at Unity. If you need more Unity or have been wanting to order some for the first time, this weekend is the time to do it. Everything is 30% off! Happy Firday! Check out the rest of Hip Hop Hangover girls, here or on Angela's blog. Hugs, Lisa

I stole a few moments to stamp...

...my mental heath needed it. I took a few moments throughout the day yesterday to put together a few cards. Tim was home, Ryan's med's kicked in so he was comfortable, and Nicholas was busy playing trains. I had a few sketches to work with and that always seems to move things along for me. I first have to share the sweetness of big brother Joshua. While we were at the surgery center on Tuesday, Joshua made this card in school for Ryan. I just love that he was thinking about him while he was at school. I then played along with the Unity Addicts challenge and whipped up this quickie for my little guy. I used some of the fun October Afternoon dp and the Unity kit, Delectable Delights (get them both at Limelight Papercrafts). We sure are going through the popsicles around here.
The sentiment I created is from PTI, their Simple Alphabet. If you are in the market for a mini alphabet, this is a must have. The price is just right and you get so many extra letters to spell all the words you need. Next is a sketch from Card Patterns. I have been watching this blog get started (thanks to one of my fellow GSG's, Marie) and decided to play along this week. The sketch was fun to work with (plus there's a prize involved and a Guest Designer spot up for grabs). I was so happy with how this turned out, gotta love that Urban Oasis paper!

It is another SUO project. This is a rather large card for me, as it measures 5 inches square. Thanks for stopping by and checking in. Ill be back tomorrow with my Friday Stamp Something challenge and probably the last of my winter cards. I am SO ready for Spring! Oh, and I have some PTI stuff to share too. I've been having more fun with Dawn's new set, Damask Designs.

VSN, a first for me! and New SU catty goes LIVE!

YES!!! At noon today (MT) you can now order from the 2009 Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! catty!!!

We were frozen in this weekend. It was cooooold! Tim worked and the boys were playing with the neighbors, so I got some stamping time. SCS held their VSN Mini Crush . There were 12 challenges posted and they were a lot of fun. I did not do all 12 but I did complete 7 of them. The girls that hosted (some of my FAVE stampin' peeps!) it did a fabulous job. I loved the little video intro on quite a few of the challenges. It was so fun to see and hear IRL some of the friends we chat with online. I won't share all my projects today, but here are a few to start with.

I think this was my fave. It was a Save the Date challenge, you had to include those words on your card somewhere. I did this for a date night DH and I will have this Friday (my parents are coming into town!!).
This next one was for a new technique, Burned Batik. While I'm still not sure about this card, it was still fun to try something new. Check out that texture on the choc. chip cs...it is from one of the new textured plates that SU is now carrying!
okay, and one more. Since the theme was all about LOVE, this challenge card was to use something soft and tender on your card. I did this one up with a row of felt flowers. The images are from Unity!

That's all for today. The kiddos are off of school and DH is home. Hopefully we'll get out and do something fun. Nothing is planned yet, but dinner out would be nice! Have a good day!

Hugs, Lisa

I was busy stamping yesterday

Lucky me! the day turned out in my favor. Tim napped (he's working nights this weekend) while the baby napped, the boys were playing outside, no afternoon soccer games, and after Nicholas woke up the girls next door played with him for almost two hours (they were great little mommy helpers). I was able to stamp, stamp, and stamp. I'm on a mission to finish all 7 challenges over on SCS. If you have them uploaded by Monday evening they qualify for some prizes AND the wonderfully, generous, Angela at Unity is offering up a prize to one lucky winner that uses all Unity stamps for all 7 challenges. Couldn't pass that up...Here's what I've done so far. This is one for the featured stamper challenge.
This was for the sketch challenge that AJ posted. It was such a fun sketch. I also did a Halloween card and used ribbon for the three strips on the left. But I'm saving that for another day.

And this was for the Inspiration challenge. Our inspiration piece was the cover of the Coldwater Creek catalog. That's all I have time for right now, off to church. Hugs, Lisa

Quickies, That Really Weren't Quickies...

Okay, so this first one was way quicker than the next one I'll show you, BUT they were both supposed to be faster cards than they were. I really was only supposed to spend 20 minutes in my craft room. That turned into an hour! The Limited Supply Challenge over at SCS on Friday was called Orange Roasters-you were supposed to create a card with a coffee related image and use any shade of orange you desired. I pulled out my Washington Apple dsp and my Pun Fun set and this is what came of that. I actually quite like this card. I think my favorite part of it is the awesome button accent. Man, I love those new buttons in the Button Bouquet!! I paper pieced the cuppa joe with some pumpkin prints dsp. This second card, well, let's just say it had a life of it's own. I was reading my friend Becky's blog and saw the awesome card she did for the Limelight sketch challenge. I was so focused on the keep it simple part, that I wasn't able to. For some reason I kept adding layers and then I couldn't make the full sketch work for me. Literally, I think I re-did this card 4 times and I don't re-do cards often. I do like the end result, but I felt like it strayed from the sketch, oh, which is here BTW- The sketch. Again, I used the Washington Apple dsp (this is my second favorite print in the pack!) and the Pumpkin prints dsp. Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back with a scrapbook page tomorrow. Hugs,

NMBS Challenge

I am the challenge hostess over at the NMBS Blog (a blog for one of the swap groups I'm part of). I have to say I have been a slacker in the challenge category for this Blog. I love everything the girls have posted (we are on challenge #9), but with getting ready for Convention I just haven't had time. I vow to do better. My challenge is called, First Impressions. I challenge you to CASE one of the first projects that caught your eye in the new catty. If you haven't seen it yet, it goes live tomorrow at noon (MT). Have I told you how excited I am to place my order!!! Here is the link to our blog. Anyone can play, it is all for fun. Have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs,
