Book lovers get ready for great session on Gabriele D’Annunzio at the upcoming Auckland Writers Festival. Lucy Hughes-Hallett’s book on D’Annunzio has won several major awards in the last six months and has been described as ‘unputdownable’ by the British press.

D’Annunzio – Italian poet, nationalist demagogue and serial seducer - was among Europe’s most fascinating and outrageous early twentieth-century figures. When he made himself ruler of a renegade city-state, he opened the way for the dictators who would follow. Hughes-Hallett speaks in conversation with Geraint Martin.
