Amsterdam's city hall has undergone a complete renovation, and a first floor is being added to the surrounding flea market. To hide the construction, a fence displaying photos of the old market from the 1950s and 1960s has been erected. The photos show the old Jewish quarter, which was largely destroyed during World War II and lost many of its residents. In the context of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary, all of this should be festively opened soon. Have you wondered what will happen to all the functions and officials that used to be there? Marriage, driver's license, and passport applications, to name a few. It's amusing to think of a city hall housing a flea market. We shall see.

New construction Amsterdam
It has not been completed yet, but I took a quick look at it at the request of one of the future residents to see if there was anything wrong with it. I have done a lot of work with this contractor in the past and it was always okay. Must say that this project on the western edge of town does follow the amsterdam tradition of brick construction. The architects are Geurst and Schulze of The Hague.

Mosaic facade
Came across this little building yesterday in Almere city. A kind of temporary shelter for the scouting left and the Sufi movement right. What's in the middle, no idea. This mural is for Sami's Colourful World here.

Remarkable
Found a photo of 2010, the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, built by Enric Mirailles and in use since 2004. Can't get out of there for a while to photograph so I have to make some use of the huge mountain of photos taken in the past.

Architecture
Hope they keep warm feet in winter.
Due to a lack of building land, you sometimes have to build on the water. Apartment building in the Y by MVRDV

Building yard
For the new head office of booking.com. Yesterday I had a computer failure but in the end it turned out to be a malfunction in the sockets, which caused a few hard disks to fail. I kept thinking about a software bug but it was somewhere else and it takes a while and a lot of perspiration before you understand that. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Loods 6
In addition to biebs post some details of the building in which the photo exhibition of the final exam candidates of the photo academy took place.
Loods 6 is situated on the KNSM island. This was once the arrival and departure hall of the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij. Since 1997, the building has been used as a collection building for artists, creative companies and special shops in the field of art, design, literature and other healthy 'content' food for body and mind. The Baggage Hall, Compass Hall and the spectacular entrance hall of Loods6 can be rented for events, exhibitions, openings, art manifestations and pop-up stores.
It was only a two day event.
but left a good impression of the stand of photography today. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Eco-housing in the polder
Just ready. Eco-zero housing from yesterdays post in the polder. With their helofyte filtering for sewage treatment, advanced heat pumps and sun panels, extra isolation and special glass looks that there is no money left for a bit more architecture but I can understand that. I am only sorry to say that architecture in these houses not played any part of an ecological solution while it is possible. One for Weekend Reflections here.

Visiting building projects in the polder
It bit desolate this place to build eco zero housing for people who have the well being of our nature in high regard. One for Skywatch Friday here.

New office
My former office has such a spurt in grow that they must move to a larger location and found it in the wood harbor of amsterdam. The top floors of the building in the corner that is still in process.
The view outside
Don't hope it get to much attraction during work time but it is tempting. One for Skywatch Friday here.
