Around this time 2 years ago.

Then we had the Floriade with a cable car that brought you from on side to the other. Everything is gone now again with a loss of €200.000.000 for the municipality and guess what. Construction plans for the new housing development have foundered on a terrible row between the municipality and the project developers. Cause obviously money again.

And suddenly the facade of the Aeres agricultural college is in bloom. That was not the case during last year's floriade. Yes nature always needs time.

A last farewell to the Floriade

Manmade geysers that are part of an eco geologies heat pump system for the cooling and heating of the surrounding buildings. This system will continue to exist after the demolition of the site that has now begun . One for Skywatch Friday here.

The Aeres Highschool from BDG Architects will continue to exist after the Floriade ends.

This building from DP6 architecture studio called the nature pavilion because it is made from 95% natural materials wil have to go again. Lucky it can rebuild somewhere else.

From the cable car you have a nice view of the grounds.

Dutch flower growers again showed some strong samples.

This sign may go back into the trash.Too bad the Floriade has to stop again just at its peak.

Floriade 1

The late bloomers stick out like cows in the fog just above the sea off waving unfamiliar plants.

It is truly a beautiful sight and to think that it will all be cleaned up at the end of this week because now is the last week of the Floriade.

In a remote corner of the Floriade Almere sits the end station of the cable car across the grounds . The glass facade reflects the opposite exit of the A6 on the other side of the fence. One for Weekend Street/Reflections here.

The Almere Wool Union on the Floriade

Consisting of thousands of woolen patches, colored with natural dyes, this all-seeing eye looks out into the world.

On the inside, we are surprised by a wall of weck bottles all filled with natural dyes (made by members of the Wool Union) through which the light falls beautifully.

The Almeerse Wolunie processes wool from Almeerse sheep (about 250 sheep with about 5 kilos of wool each) into specially designed products (e.g. scarf, hat or bag).

Participants of the Wolunie help with the processing of the raw wool: washing, carding, dyeing, felting, spinning and then knitting or crocheting. Of course they get to keep the product at the end of the process! A unique concept in which the wool of Almere is processed into a beautiful product with the help of Almere people.One for Sami's Colourful World here.
