Cat stairs
Waited a while for a cat to appear but alas. Also note the open top window on the left. Yes people sometimes have a lot going for their pets. (Header Amsterdam never ceases to amaze me as with this walking advertisement for a hash shop).

Yes murals are from all times
On the facades of Raam 28 and 32 two neo-Renaissance style tile tableaus to the once on this street Plateelfactory Zuid-Holland (Plazuid). They were designed by Daniel Harkink (1862-1953), draughtsman and plate painter at Plazuid, and made after the factory fire in 1918. One tableau represents a pot with eternal flame, with the year 1918; the second shows a potter at his turntable. They used to decorate the facade of the now defunct Plazuid, in 2013 they were reinstated in the wall of the Koningshof. (Text taken from www.diegoude.nl about the history of Gouda.)

Water problems?
Last Sunday the water in some canals in Gouda was very high again.
The difference is even less than 1 cm at some points but everything is still alright as I always go and check it out on every family visit there. Some houses have even cellars but they are of the floating species. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Memories about a canal

Funny contrast
If you walk out of the church in Gouda on Sunday, in the alley "achter de kerk" (behind the church) you will find right across from the exit
this cheerful display of beautiful ladies in expensive lingerie. as a counterpoint to the sermon that was heard in church.

Looierspoort Gouda
In the cities of the Netherlands you find sometimes remnants of the old street plan which, despite regulations that no longer allow it, still exists. This is public space but you can only pass sideways let alone with a bike or trolly.
The alley behind the above passage with the same name and very difficult to get furniture inside.
