Rolling Kitchens

Went last Thursday to the rolling kitchens in Westerpark Amsterdam which is always held around Ascension day.

Despite the fact that the weather left something to be desired, it was quite busy.

The exhibitors do everything to attract attention as this exhibitor from the Philippines with barbecued specialties had brought a van from Manila.

Here I am waiting for my potato pancakes from the Ukraine (photo Biebkriebels) furthermore I ate a French crepe, Indian vegetarian Samosas and a kind of Coconut cake with the addition of lemongrass with honey. Everything was delicious. Hope I didn't make too many people jealous.

Here is another coffee maker that runs on steam coming from Germany. I think it can also pull a train.

Rolling Kitchens

Yesterday we took a quick visit to the annual Rolling Kitchen festival in Amsterdam. The weather was beautiful and the food was very good although the prices sometimes reached astronomical levels. All in all, still worth the effort.

This was the vegetable for an Algerian dish and it looked so appealing that I ordered a meal of this. Very tasty.

Surprise from Lyon

Our daughter returned from a trip to Madrid with her husband on Friday and they decided to have lunch at the Bocuse halls in Lyon on the way back (by train). There, among other things, they saw this brioche filled with delicious sausage and came to bring it over on Sunday. Yes France is No. 1 when it comes to good food.

Surprise

Our son surprised us with self made Kaiserschmarrn a soft thick pancake in pieces. Seems to have been the favorite dish of Emperor Franz Joseph I hence the name. It was very tasty indeed.

Our yearly harbor weekend

With a big flea market, restaurant testings and sailing on the Gooi lake with old fishing vessels.

We tasted paella with tortilla and a pasteis de nata (for me Portuguese and not Spanish) from a for us new Spanish restaurant with sangria for €8 p/p.

The boat trip we were just skipping this year.

The cold store of one of the best butchers in our country has recently settled in Almere. They deliver throughout Europe to the top of the catering industry and hotels. Whether their name is entirely appropriate in this time is the question. One for Signs, Signs here.

Cultural market snack

On the cultural market of last sunday there were also very ecologically sound snacks as here the french fries in a complete recyclable wrapper. Only a little problem if you have to look at a lot of books, papers and other stuff that doesn't like fat. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Quality

If I need real good coffee beans or tea I go to "t Zonnetje" on the Haarlemmer dike. This shop started in 1858 and the form of today is from 1895 but since 1652 there was already the first black tea.

In the same shopping mood I pick also some olive oil from Sicily and Umbria on the Brouwers canal by the Oilshop. The advantage of a big city. One for Our World Tuesday here.

In Baut Paradise

The pop-up restaurant Baut in Amsterdam has a new location in an old machine building of the eastern gas factory. By entry you are greeted by a modern Adam and Eve on the wall made by Judith de Leeuw. A theme that you can find also on the menu card. The food and location was as always excellent but the noise not so. One for Monday Murals here.
