Cheese with a smile.

My favorite visit on the market to fill up our cheese stock every Friday. (Header not so long
ago, the municipality planted bee ribbons everywhere along the edges of green spaces. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them this year.)

Into the woods

Thanks to the warm weather and abundant rains, the greenery is literally popping at the seams in the Almere woods.  Unfortunately, it also means a large increase in the giant hogweed that just won't go away.

Seen in Almere

Behind this sign (called dyeing plants field) there are plants that provide colours for dyeing fabrics.
Luckily there are also signs that indicate the colour of each plant. (not here)
In front of it there is a row of poles with the colours that the plants behind them produce but the wool sheaths at the top have lost their colour since the 2 years they've been in wind and weather. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Sign of changing times

Subtropical plants in a flowerbed in public space. And that in the Netherlands. There is clearly no longer any expectation of harsh winters. For me a first. One for Signs2 here.

Bees ribbon

Everywhere in Almere you will find these strips for attracting bees and other insects. Well I hope to see a real bee soon. The few minutes I was looking didn't see one.

At the edge of the Netherlands.

The North Sea at the Maasvlakte, a man made piece of land from 60 km², as an extension of the ports of Rotterdam. One for Skywatch Friday here.

A sign on the wall

Certainly to save the insects, the municipality now has some pieces of grass no longer mowed. Hope it helps.

Bamboo removal

After 40 years we decided to remove the bamboo in the back of the garden.
It's a real hercules task to remove the roots and it's going to take some time. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Human inventiveness

You want a plant on the window sill, but you miss a pot. Then you just grab the construction helmet of your husband. A sign to think out of the box. One for Signs, Signs here.

City garden

The warm weather gave a boost to the more exotic plants in the pavement.

Greenhouses

This is one of the results of a visit to our local flower and vegetable growers.
Every year they open their greenhouses one weekend for the public.
Their orchids and roses are very famous.
And when we got a change to take some with us we did it. One for our world tuesday here.

Waiting for the bus

I saw this sunflower leaf in pretty decay over a hedge nearby and just grab the change.
The new bus sign showed me that I had still 3 minutes to put my camera away. Also that I was right to put 'n umbrella in my bag.Yes every stop in Almere have got or get one. One for sign, signs here.

White water surface.

A strange phenomena. Waterplants are in blossom and not the normal ones. Looks like common water crowfood.

The effect is stunning. Never saw this before. Must be the mild winter and nice weather now.
