Arriva zio Giorgio!

This year’s play is a very funny one-act comedy, where a series of unexpected events end up creating hilarious situations.

Edited and directed by Matteo Telara, starring 5 brave Dante Auckland students : Mary Mason (as Lucia), Dugald MacBrayne (as Uncle Giorgio), Jim Crossen (in the double part of Michele and Dorotea), Wendy Benjamin (as Flavia), Michael Goodger (as Carlo), plus Matteo Telara (as Silvia).

The Dante's play is the result of a language class where students learn Italian by acting.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free but gold coin donations are welcome! After the play there will be a refreshment: feel free to bring a plate. Doors open at 5pm, public must be seated by 5:30

DON'T MISS OUR PLAY!!!!!!!

La biografia di Al

Al Capone, legendary gangster of Chicago, invites a few famous writers into his office to have them write his own biography.
His call is answered by three very different authors: Agatha Christie, George Lucas and Eduardo De Filippo (who was one of the most famous Italian theatre author/actor).
They all gather to work on the ‘story of Capone’s life’, but whilst they are busy, trying to find a common ground, things turn out be much different than expected…

Matteo’s theatre class/workshop is proud to introduce to you “La biografia di Al” (“The biography of Al”), a one-act play written by Italian writer Saverio Siciliano and adapted and directed by Matteo.
The play will be shown on Sunday the 22nd of May at 4pm at Dante (at the Auditorium of the Freemans Bay Community Centre to be exact).
After the play a glass of spumante and some nibbles will be served to celebrate our brave students/actors (if you want, you can also bring a platter to share!).

We hope to see you all at the Dante on Sunday the 22nd of May at 4 pm!!!

Orphans & Kingdoms 2014

Directed by Paolo Rotondo AOTEAROA
In writer/director Paolo Rotondo’s debut feature, three teenagers on the run break into a deluxe Waiheke Island home and find themselves caught in a tense psychodrama with the conflicted owner. Click here to watch the trailer.

"Il mio Film Orphans & Kingdoms farà parte del New Zealand international film festival," Says Paolo. "Il compositore e venuto dall’Italia per registrare degli stupendi pezzi classici e corali.  Quindi con un regista-sceneggiatore italiano e un compositore Italiano si potrebbe dire che il film e quasi una coproduzione."

But there is more from this talented Italian Kiwi:

The Theatre production Strange Resting Places has been invited to represent New Zealand at the Edinburg Fringe Festival, regarded as the most important Theatre Festival in the world, and needs fundings to be able to attend. Strange Resting Places is about the meeting of Italians and the Maori Battalion in WW2, click here to watch a few extracts from this wonderful show, and if you like what to see please make a donation and help bring both theatre and an important part of Italian and New Zealand history to world.

Grazie!
