Ieri la Befana, in viaggio per l'Italia, si è fermata anche ad Auckland, in Nuova Zelanda, per portare un po' di regalini ai bambini italiani. (Scroll down for English)
Giornata soleggiata, bellissima e divertente per tutti, grandi e piccini. Grazie alla Befana per averci visitato (simpaticissima, magari un po' eccentrica) ed Alessandra Di Marco per aver coordinato l'evento.
La Dante Auckland organizza il Picnic con la Befana ogni anno al parco Domain, e generazioni di bambini italo-kiwi stanno crescendo con questa antica tradizione italiana.

Befana arrived yesterday, on her broom and with a bag of presents, to meet the Italian children in Auckland. In Italian folklore Befana is an old lady, similar to a witch, who visits all the children of Italy on the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany to fill their socks with candy and presents if they are good, or coal or if they are bad (here regional differences apply, so coal can be substituted with sticks, stones or dried polenta, today these are also made of sugar). Befana flies on a broom, sweeping away of the problems of the previous year. Viva la Befana!
