From 14 to 22 October 2025, the University of Auckland will host the 25th Week of the Italian Language in the World, an annual international celebration promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embraced by cultural and academic institutions across the globe.

This year’s theme — Italophony: A Language Beyond Borders — highlights the vitality of Italian as a truly global language: a cultural bridge that unites communities, arts, and ideas beyond national boundaries.

A Week of Events!

Audiences are invited to take part in a rich program of free events, including:

• 🎓 Talks and special lectures 
• 🎬 Film screenings
• 📚 Open Italian lessons for beginners
• 🎨 Exhibitions and cultural stands
• 🍕 Pizza, pasta-making demos, quizzes and cooking competitions (with prizes!)
• 🎶 Flash mobs, live music and artistic conversations

Community and Institutions

The celebration will be further enriched by the participation of representatives of the Italian community and institutions, with the honour of welcoming the Ambassador of Italy to New Zealand, Cristiano Maggipinto, who will address the public during the week.

The week concludes on Wednesday, 22 October with the only ticketed event:
